Image appears distorted due to bad display unit.
Cause:
The display unit is faulty.
Solution:
Replace the display unit with another compatible display unit.
1) Turn off the computer and all its components.
2) Unplug the display unit power cord from the electrical outlet.
3) Disconnect the display unit from the back of the computer.
4) Discard the old display unit.
5) Attach the new display unit cables to the back of the computer.
6) Plug the power cord into the electrical outlet.
7) Turn on the computer and all of its components.
8) Select the appropriate video display:
a) Click the 'Start' button to display the 'Start' menu.
b) Select 'Settings' and select 'Control Panel'. (The 'Control Panel' window appears.)
c) Double-click the 'Display' icon. (The 'Display Properties' dialog box appears.)
d) Click the 'Settings' tab.
e) Click 'Change Display Type...'. (The 'Change Display Type' dialog box appears.)
f) Change the 'Adapter Type':
1] Click 'Change...' in the 'Adapter Type' group. (The 'Select Device' dialog box appears.)
2] Select the 'Show all devices' radio button.
3] Select the appropriate manufacturer of the display adapter from the 'Manufacturers' list box.
NOTE: Consult the manual that came with the display for the appropriate display adapter type.
4] Select the appropriate model of the display from the 'Models' list box.
NOTE: Consult the manual that came with the display for the appropriate display model type.
5] Click 'OK'.
g) Change the 'Monitor Type':
1] Click 'Change...' in the 'Monitor Type' group. (The 'Select Device' dialog box appears.)
2] Select the 'Show all devices' radio button.
3] Select the appropriate manufacturer of the monitor type from the 'Manufacturers' list box.
NOTE: Consult the manual that came with the display for the appropriate display adapter type.
4] Select the appropriate monitor model from the 'Models' list box.
NOTE: Consult the display manual for the appropriate model type.
5] Click 'OK'.
h) Click 'Close'.
9) Click 'Yes' to restart the computer.
